Hasnabad and Basirhat Netaji Subhas Open University NSOU Study Centre

Basirhat College, a general degree college in Basirhat, was founded in 1957. The college has opened a branch of Netaji Subhas Open University (NSOU). The college is affiliated to West Bengal State University. Basirhat College was primarily housed in the Basirhat Town Hall in 1947. It was shifted to Khan Bahadur A.F.M. Abdur Rahaman’s residence at the heart of Basirhat town later. At first the Basirhat College was formerly affiliated to the University of Calcutta. Now the college is affiliated to the West Bengal State University from the session 2008 - 2009. Courses offered at the study center by NSOU, the the premier state open university  in West Bengal, Netaji Subhas Open University:

1. Certificate Course: Human Rights.
2. Diploma Course: Consumer Affairs.
3. Bachelor Degree (BPP): Journalism & Mass Communication, Library and Information Science (BLIS), Education.
4. P.G. Diploma Course: Co-operation, Journalism and Mass Communication.
5. Post Graduation: Bengali, English, History, Political Science, English Language Training, Social Work (MSW), Commerce, Mathematics, and Public Administration.
6. Bachelor’s Degree Programme: Arts (Honours) or B.A. in Bengali, English, History, Political Science, Economics, Sociology, Public Administration, B.Com in Accountancy, B.Sc in sceniece subjects like Physics and Zoology.
7. M.Phil.: Education.
