Jadavpur University or JU is a premier public research university located in Kolkata, West Bengal. Jadavpur University has its main campus at Jadavpur and the new campus at Salt Lake. The Jadavpur campus of the university houses most of the departments of the three faculties - Engineering, Science and Arts. The university offers about fifty courses in the three faculties. The main campus of the Jadavpur University is 8km from the Sealdah Railway Station and about 25 km from the Dum Dum Airport (Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport).
The main campus is adjacent to research institutes like the Indian Institute of Chemical Biology, Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science, and the Central Glass and Ceramic Research Institute. The Salt Lake City Campus is surrounded by many renowned educational institutes like the National Institute of Fashion Technology, West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, and the Government College of Engineering and Leather Technology.
The five engineering departments operate out of the Salt Lake campus of JU are Instrumentation and Electronics Engineering, Information Technology, Printing Engineering, Construction Engineering and Power Engineering.
